Apple has begun selling unlocked GSM iPhone 4’s in the US. The rumors about unlocked iPhone 4’s surfaced a couple of days ago and now it has been confirmed. So does this point out to a September launch of the iPhone 5?
Apple is selling unlocked iPhone 4’s in retail stores as well as on its online store.
If you don’t want a multiyear service contract or if you prefer to use a local carrier when traveling abroad, the unlocked iPhone 4 is the best choice. It arrives without a micro-SIM card, so you’ll need an active micro-SIM card from any supported GSM carrier worldwide.
How does it work?
The unlocked iPhone 4 requires an active
micro-SIM card that you obtain from a supported GSM wireless carrier. Simply insert the micro-SIM card into the slot on your iPhone, connect to your Mac or PC using the USB cable, and launch iTunes on your computer to complete the setup.
So this is great news right? Well it definitely is good news but not for everyone! It has been reported that iPhone 5 is in its final testing phase and is going to be launched this September. So why buy an iPhone 4 now when they next generation one is going to be launched a couple of months after. Is Apple trying to increase the product life cycle of the iPhone 4 to maximize profits just before the launch of the next one? Well we highly think so.
