Today Apple gave more details to the city of Cupertino regarding the Apple’s “Spaceship” campus that is going ahead as planned and which will be completed in 2015. The proposal which was sent by Apple to Cupertino outlines some basic details regarding this much talked about “spaceship” campus.
Apple’s future and the largest campus is going to be built at Cupertino and is dubbed as the spaceship due to its desgin which is, well, like a spaceship.
The proposal for the Apple’s spaceship campus includes:
- An Office, Research and Development Building comprising approximately 2.8 million square feet.
- A 1,000 seat Corporate Auditorium.
- A Corporate Fitness Center.
- Research Facilities comprising approximately 300,000 square feet.
- A Central Plant.
- Associated Parking.
Cupertino will overlook this Apple’s spaceship campus for Environmental Impact Assessment (including traffic, noise, air quality, etc.) during which the public will have the opportunity to comment on this project.
This land was bought by Apple from HP and will generate its own power, reducing its dependency on the local power resources. It will also hold approximately 13,000 employees.
This campus from Apple has also been dubbed as the “Mothership” by the Cupertino’s Mayer Gilbert Wong, which he welcomed this project from Apple.
Apple’s spaceship campus will be come for approval to the Cupertino City Council fall of 2012 and will be completed by 2015.
