The newly released iOS 5.0.1 can be jailbroken using Snowbreeze 2.8 beta 11. If you haven’t already jailbroken your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch go ahead and download Snowbreeze 2.8b11 and jailbreak your iOS device.

 

The following devices are supported on snowbreeze 2.8B11

• iPhone 4

• iPhone 3GS

• iPad 1

• iPod touch 4G

• iPod touch 3G

Notes

• Supports iOS 5.0 (9A334)/5.0.1 (9A405) 

• Fixed iBooks sandbox crashing issues (as of 2.8b9).

• Fixed location services issues with iPhone 3GS users running the iPad baseband (as of 2.8b9).

• Re-added iPad baseband install option to iPhone 3GS.

• Tethered devices are booted via iBooty which is extracted to the Desktop after running sn0wbreeze

 

You Need

Download Snowbreeze 2.8

Download iOS 5.0.1

Jailbreak iOS 5.01 using snowbreeze

STEP 1:  Start Snowbreeze 2.8b11 and click the Blue button

STEP 2: Drag or use browse button to select your iOS 5.0.1 .IPSW file.

STEP 3: After you have selected your .ipsw file, Snowbreeze 2.8b11 will identify it.

STEP 4:

After it has been identified, select “Expert Mood” followed by “Build IPSW”

(If your iPhone relies on a unlock, proceed only by selecting “Baseband Preservation Mode” option instead of “Expert Mode”)

STEP 5: Click on the Blue button to continue, it will start building custom firmware.

STEP 6: After completing custom firmware process it will display a done message

STEP 7:

Enter DFU mood by following the on screen instructions

• Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds

• Now release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for 10 more seconds

• Your device should now be in DFU mode

STEP 8: After correctly following the instructions, it will display a message that your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad is in Pwned DFU state.

STEP 9: Start iTunes, click on your iOS device icon from the sidebar in iTunes. Now press and hold Left “Shift” button on the keyboard and then click on “Restore”.

STEP 10:

Now you don’t need to do anything, just let iTunes work its magic. iTunes will now complete restore process. After the installation it will reboot.

Congrats you have successfully jailbroken your iPhone 4,3GS, iPod touch and iPad on iOS 5.0.1

Tethered Mood Boot

As currently there is no untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1, so you will have to boot your iOS device into a tethered jailbroken state.

Here’s How To Do It:

STEP 1: Start iBooty and select your iOS device.

STEP 2: Click the Start button and follow the on screen instructions to enter in to DFU mood.

STEP 3:

• Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds

• Now release the Power button but continue holding the Home button for 10 more seconds

• You device should now be in DFU mode

STEP 4: After you have completed the DFU mood instructions, your iOS device will be booted in a jailbroken tethered mood on iOS 5.01

There you go folks, you will have a jailbroken iOS device on iOS 5.0.1.
