For those of you who are unaware about this situation, many people accidently upgraded their firmwares to iOS 5 when Apple released it without thinking if their iPhone 4 relied on being unlocked.

When many of those users who downloaded iOS 5 got something they did not expect. Gevey SIM could not unlock iPhone 4 due to a new baseband for the iPhone 4. The new baseband was 4.11.08.

What this new baseband 4.11.08 did was completely stop iPhone 4 from getting unlocked, as all methods which had previously worked for unlocking did not work for iPhone 4 4.11.08.

Can Ultrasnow Unlock iPhone 4 Baseband 4.11.08?

I heard that Ultrasnow can unlock iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08, is that true?

As you are most probably aware (if you have a locked device) that Ultrasnow is the software developed by the iPhone Dev team that unlocks iPhone. So can this ultrasnow unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5 baseband 4.11.08? Well the answer to that is a disappointing no.

The last major upgrade to Ultrasnow did not bring new basebands for unlocking, it only worked for 4.3.x. So iPhone 4 users who are stuck on iOS 5 baseband 4.11.08 can not unlock using Ultrasnow.

Hey i saw video on YouTube in which this guy unlocks his iPhone 4 on iOS 5 BB (baseband) 4.11.08. Why can’t i use that method?

Yes we have seen that video and the answer is no you can not unlock by that method. We even wrote a guide on unlocking iPhone 4 by seeing that video but later we found out from iPhone Dev team member musclenerd that, this method would unlock for only a couple of seconds to minutes. Not a permanent solution

Are we ever going to have a permanent solution for unlocking iPhone 4 on iOS 5 or should i just sell my locked iPhone 4?

Yes we are going to have an unlock for iPhone 4.11.08 and the best thing to do now is wait. You have waited this long why not wait for a couple of more weeks? I know it sounds a lot but that is the only option you have now.

One of my friends got iPhone 4 running on iOS 5 unlocked by paying someone, should i do the same?

The answer to that is NO. While there are ways of getting it unlocked by paying someone but 90% are fake! If you are thinking of paying to get it unlocked, chances are you might get scammed especially online. So better safe then sorry.

      90% is a huge number and for those that work i don’t really know about them, as i have not tested them out myself.

      I do not recommending paying for getting unlock right now until we get confirmation from anyone whether their methods work or not.

    hey guys, thanks for the info to us who dont reallt know wats going on. I have an iphone 4 5.0.1(04.11.08)AT&T. its less then 1 month ol and i can use it to make a single call cause i living in the UK and AT&T doesnt work over here and if i get an account, the roaming will kill me. I cant wait for an unlock solution. I have a question, so someone please help, i saw a video where someone used a tmobile chip and got it to work in the iphone 4 AT&T, can this really be done? cause we have tmobile over here. thanks for help gaven. Keep up the good work guys, alot of less knowledge people like me depend on u guys to help save ours from being scamed and making stupid mistakes. Peace

    Any word on a confirmed date for a solution or even an expected date? Oh and one more thing, does having ios 5 with baseband 4.11 make it harder or impossible to sync to Itunes? I’m having so many problems syncing and I was wondering if the firmware was the problem. Any ideas?

    Farhan is right, just wait for ultrasnow to upgrade or a new solution comes up. I have try different unlock method online and none of them worked, they are scammers trying to get your green. I had to threathen them so that i could get my money back and luckly they return my money but it was a hassle. Dont believe anyone unless is free and you are willing to give it a try, just wait and keep your money safe.

    I do not know who is the authority, and whom to believe. Farhan’s other blog said ultrasn0w 1.3 should also take care of 4.11.08. So let us hope for the best, and let us hope they do so.

    Now I am really worried.
    Can you please enlight us.
    Is there any release from DEV team that unlock for 4.11.08 is not possible?

        Hey Farhan, I got a question for u that i will reall apriceate u answering.Do the iphone 3g/3gs carry any basebands that cant be unlock? I have an old 3g or 3gs, its not working so i dont know wat it is cause it was gaven to me quite some time now. i can do a swap out at apple, but i do not know wat base band the new one will have. please help me out with the question.     It Really Sucks!… Listened to a friend to upgrade to new ISO and I am now screwed! It seem’s that no one is really working on this 4.11.08 baseband unlock.

      if u upgrade to ios 5.0.1 u will still be on bb 04.11.08
      im using 5.0.1 0n 04.11.08 0n my iphone 4. im jus praying that the guys get a unlock. i do have a untethered jailbreak with the new redsnow which saves your shsh and i use snowbreeze to preserve my baseband.
      I will advise u to do the same.

    This is a great blog, I finally got my questions answered on unlocking iphone 4 BB 04.11.08. I suggest to keep waiting…. that website on maximizetrade seemed a but shady.. I am not totally convinced. Thank you all for the comments. I’ll continue to anxiously await news on a real unlocking tool for it.

    What are the chances of the iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 running on 3GS baseband. 3GS can be unlocked with older basebands so why can’t the 4 be down graded to the 3GS unlock able baseband?

    everybody i just unlocked my iphone 4 firmware: 5.0.1 bb 4.11.08 with ultrasnow tool from cydia.

    and yet it works fine even the 3G internet.

    I did some test (calls, texts messages, etc.) and works 100%.

    BTW im from mexico and my carrier is TELCEL.
