The battery life of any phone not just the iPhone is a huge problem for many tech companies, they usually don’t run that long, but that is about to be all changed.

So how is that possible? The answer is Hydrogen Fuel Cells.

Hydrogen fuel cells are not new, in fact they have been used in cars and other machinery for quite some time now but like any new piece of technology it has its disadvantage and that is designing it in such a way that it can be portable and easy to build.

It seems Apple has found a way.

Apple has recently filed for two different patents determining how future iPhone can be powered, it uses Hydrogen fuel cells.

From US Patents and Trademarks Office

“design of a fuel cell system which is capable of both providing power to and receiving power from a rechargeable battery in a portable computing device. This eliminates the need for a bulky and heavy battery within the fuel cell system, which can significantly reduce the size, weight and cost of the fuel cell system. This fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack which converts fuel into electrical power”

So how long will the battery lasts using this new fuel cell system? According to Apple it can be days or even weeks! Yes folks, imagine using your iPhone for weeks without the need of charging.

Now the title does mention “future iPhone” so it is something we will expect a couple of years from now on.
