The competition these days in the smartphone industry is which is the slimmest phone but still quite powerful. It goes without saying that Apple is one of the these big-shots. When Apple introduced the iPhone 4, it brought a new SIM card with it called the micro-SIM card. Which was significantly smaller compared to its predecessor. Guess what folks, next generation iPhone’s will have even smaller!
As technology advances, the space inside the smartphone’s have to get smaller and smaller to compensate for more powerful chips, battery and other stuff. So Apple is looking to integrate even smaller SIM’s in their future iPhone.
Apple is going head to head against competition on keeping a standard size for SIM cards, each company is proposing its own size for the nano SIM cards for the future.
The Sim is crucial to the design of future handsets, with one person with knowledge of the committee saying that the Apple-backed nano-Sim could require a “drawer” to protect it. “Phones would need to be re-engineered with this in mind,” the person said. Nokia said that its proposal had “significant technical advantages”.
The new nano SIM card is about one third smaller than the current micro SIM being used in the iPhone 4S and the iPad. If nano SIM cards get approved by the Europe’s standards body we would see even slimmer iPhone’s in the future.
Micro-Sims are already common in the latest generation of smart devices, such as Apple’s iPhone 4S and Nokia’s Lumia. The nano-Sim is thinner and about a third smaller than the micro-Sim, and would allow more space for other functions.
So what do you think of future iPhone having even smaller SIM cards?

That’s a load of sh*t. The image looks photoshopped. The idea is just too far fetched. Though it would save money for them on manufacturing… It’s not as if they don’t have enough money from iPad 3 sales. Sorry to rave on about nothing but the new technology is getting ridiculous.
Others haven’t yet got into microsim support. Yet another size of SIM introduced?
