We are on an unlocking roll today, posting about unlocking iPhone information one after another. To continue this we are now posting about another information relating to the unlock by AT&T, this time it is relating to those users who are eligible to unlock their iPhone.
AT&T announced some days ago that they are changing their unlocking policy regarding iPhone’s, and on Sunday they began unlocking iPhone’s as promised.

When you are asked to unlock iPhone, one thing that you are required to do is restore your iPhone. You might already know that restoring iPhone leads to two changes and those are baseband upgrade and losing untethered jailbreak. Baseband upgrade won’t be a problem but losing untethered jailbreak might be. So folks here is how to unlock iPhone without losing untethered jailbreak
Unlock iPhone Without Losing Untethered Jailbreak
Musclenerd of the iPhone dev team tweeted mentioning that there is a way to unlock your AT&T iPhone without losing untethered jailbreak.
For everyone enjoying new AT&T policy: use redsn0w’s “Deactivate” option on “Jailbreak” screen to avoid restoring and losing jailbreak
Follow the step by step guide for unlocking iPhone without losing untethered jailbreak.
STEP 1: Download redsnow 0.9.10b6.
STEP 2: Launch redsnow 0.9.10b6 and click on “jailbreak”.
STEP 3: Now you will be required to put your iPhone 4/3GS in to DFU mood. Simply follow the on screen instructions to do that.
STEP 4: Once your device build is detected, you will be given an option. Simply click on “Deactivate” and hit “Next”
STEP 5: Remove SIM card and turn of iPhone.
STEP 6: Connect iPhone to iTunes and you will be presented with the unlock message.
That’s it folks. Your iPhone will be unlocked and you will still have the untethered jailbreak.

I followed these instructions to the letter. It did not work for me. Just gonna go ahead and update to 5.1 since I have a factory unlock it really doesnt matter all that much just gonna have to stick with 5.1 tethered till an untethered comes out.
i am stuck with iPhone 3gs base band 5.16.05, how to unlock it ,,,,,,, don`t tell me downgrade and use iPod 2 base band, i have tried it it bricks my iPhone ,,,,,,,, any suggestion !!!!!!!

Unlocking the iPhone is impossible for that we are outside the U.S., because to unlock the iphone should be in the U.S. and / or must have a contract associated with this phone with AT & T, in my case I bought for Ebay, then you would have to wait out the release by GEVEY or SIM.
El desbloqueo del iphone es imposible para los que nos encontramos por fuera de los EEUU, porque para desbloquear el iphone se debe de estar en EEUU y/o se debe de tener un contrato asociado a este telefono con AT&T, en mi caso yo compré por Ebay, entonces tendria que esperar a que saliera el desbloqueo por gevey o SIM.

Yo llame a AT&T y me dijeron que tendría que esperar 8 días para el desbloqueo y no estoy en estados unidos solo si tu telefono termino contrato o cancelaron el contrato lo podes hacer sin ningún problema estoy en Cista Rica y esperando a ver si funciona cuando funcione postrare si se pudo o no sino Mandame un email pman005@hotmail.com ahh y me dieron un numero de orden para verificar

En costa Rica hay AT&T?, porque el dia de ayer hablé con dos asesores y me informaron que no podian hacer nada con mi iphone porque no me encontraba en un contrato con ellos. Ni siquiera me pidieron el numero de IMEI del telefono. Me informaron que en el momento que tenga un contrato con AT&T me lo podrian desbloquear.
sorry for writing in Spanish!, In Costa Rica there are AT & T?, because the day yesterday I spoke with two assessors and was informed that they could not do anything with my iphone because I was not in a contract with them. I even called the phone’s IMEI number. I was informed that at the time you have a contract with AT & T I could unlock.
stupid question but necessary: redsnow process must be done before or after following the instructions that we send the AT & T email? Do not upgrade to 5.1 or restore? thanks and regards. Gastino

Yo just called at&t earlier and i used skype they told me that the will email me the instructions w/in 3-5 business days, just tell them that u want to unlock ur iphone and never spill anything, if they ask tell them that u bought it from ebay and you were told that it is an at&t and it is already out of contract or customer paid an early termination fee, thats basically it.
Well, well, well! That’s what i’ve done about a minute ago
I’m happy as I used Skype to contact AT&T’s customer support representative. (Here is the number: +18003354685 ) without paying a cent (it’s free of charge)!
And I followed these steps:
STEP 1: On your iPhone go Settings > General > About and jot down your IMEI.
—–> Done
And Call and say exactely this sentences:
“Hello sir, madame,
Well, here is my problem madame/sir, I’m not a customer of AT&T but I got a locked iphone 4 bought from ebay, and I dont know the name of original owner, i’m looking for your help to unlock it please, I would be very thankful madame/sir
STEP 2: iF They will say: Yes, you’re eligible
They will ask you to give your IMEI (STEP 1) and your email and your ID
—-> Done
STEP 3: They will give you a case number **********_**_******
—> Done
STEP 4: They will email you within 24-48 hours stating your unlock is ready or not. It might take even more time in same cases.
STEP 5: The email will tell you exactly what to do to unlock your iPhone.
—> That what the representative told me
I’m waiting for the unlock, I don’t care when, but it will be done! I’m happy, and I will be happiest if this helped ya!
I speak english like a cow (mostly french), and I’ve tried this without any faith, but it worked! The representative (female) was very nice, and I told her (Thanks from Algeria, Madame, the north of Africa) –> She laught and said You’re Welcome Sir!
Don’t hesitate to do it, it’s very easy! Fed up with 4.11.08 BB! Only the battery issue will remain now! 24H! it’s too short!

I got my phone unlock and for those who is living over seas you don’t need a at&t account so don’t let anyone tell you that you need one, all I did was called at&t and told them that I bought the phone of ebay and I’m not from the U.S so she asked for my IME number and then within a few days they emailed me and said my phone was eligible for unlock. So I downloaded the latest version of redsn0w and follow the instruction and after I was done with redsn0w I open up itunes and updated my phone, but the other thing I didn’t do was update my version 5.0.1 to the new 5.1 and now my phone is Permanently unlock..
Greetings.. I Bought iPhone 4 on eBay, i live outside U.S
call At&t to request iphone unlock, gave them my IMEI, they said they will review my case, a few days later (4) they emailed me: that i was eligible to have the requested iPhone unlocked. Follow the steps > Connect iPhone, backup & restore.
i didnt wanted to lose my jailbreak so i followed the steps on this post. downloaded redsn0w > and follow the steps, and it worked just fine. i got the message on iTunes “Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked” i was asked to put in my Apple ID acc and password, verify my info and that was it.
Then disconnected iPhone put in my sim (Claro Honduras) i got no service message :/ so then i went to SAMprefs options, disable the Subscriber Artifical Module. BINGOOOO it worked just like that, i got signals bars and now i finally have a Factory Ulocked iPhone 4. Hope my experience gives you guys a better look at this case.

Hello, I realised I made a mistake when I gave my email, i gave @hotmail.com, my mail is a Gmail.com one! I wondered how to do!
On April 15, I called again via Skype, and I asked to correct it after I gave my Case number…the guy told me to email: unlockintl@amcustomercare-att.com
I was desappointed! I tried again, and another NICE guy, asked my Case number, the day/hour of my last call, and asked me for my right email
He said, I should expect an email on april 20…

You know what? I think that at&t are unlocking all iphone phones, why? Because i called them earlier and tell them that my phone is from at&t without them knowing that its from bell canada. They told me to wait for a confirmation which i have now telling me the process to unlock my phone. Apple is tied up to at&t guys any carrier.

They just take our case and provide case no..mine its 10 days for now no news of unlock or any message from them or mail iether phone unlcoked. they keeps on telling wait wait..waitttttttttttt…just make apple users happy..they do it thats it..all business policy. case no.eg: CM———–_ _———

Redsn0w worked for mine in Costa Rica. Cost 5 bucks for a sim card. Now I have ICE here and When I go back I pop in my Rogers sim and badabing back on Rogers
Does this work if I don’t use SAM for the unlock? I use gevey and am currently using a preserved baseband? Thanks for the quick reply.
