Yes folks you read that right. No this is not some kind of prank or joke, but a real one. Apple is apparently replacing white iPhone 4 16 GB models with iPhone 4S!

It seems Apple is having a bit of problems regarding inventory shortages as some customers across United States and Canada are being offered with an iPhone 4S 16 GB whenever someone returns an iPhone 4 16GB (White model). This apparent upgrade option seems to be in some selected stores, although many are reporting it this upgrade options across all Apple stores.

Multiple sources have confirmed this free upgrade option for iPhone 4 users who will be given a free refurbished iPhone 4S whenever they return their white 16GB iPhone 4. This is due to heavy shortages of white iPhone 4.

So if you head over to your local Apple store Genius Bar, you would be in for a major surprise. Who wouldn’t take this free upgrade option right?

It seems that this free upgrade option is available to only those users who fall under AppleCare warranties but some people are even reporting that black 16GB iPhone 4 models without Apple warranties are being offered this option. Although we can not confirm if this is true or not.
