We finally have the unlocking solution you had been waiting for. You can now unlock your iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08 for free thanks to a Chinese hacker named loktar_Sun. While most of you are enjoying your unlocked iPhone 4′S, some of you have been facing problems regarding an error that pops up when you connect your iPhone to iTunes. Well here is how to fix SIM card not supported error while unlocking your iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08.
Fix SIM Card Not Supported Error For iPhone 4
This error occurs when you connect your iPhone to iTunes which is required to re-activate your iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08. But when trying to re-activate it, a message is displayed saying ” The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to supported”.
Now to fix this error follow the step by step guide below.
Step By Step Guide For Fixing SIM Card Error
Note:
- You need to know which carrier your iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08 is locked to, as it is required for later later use.
- Install SAM from Cydia. Here is how to install
STEP 1: First of all you have to check whether you have installed correct version of SAM. To do this simply head over to Settings > SAM > Utilities and tap on “Revert Lockdown to stock” button. A message will pop up showing stockification success. If you recieve that message that means you have got the correct version or not. If a failure message pop ups install SAM from original source.
STEP 2: Now go to SAMprefs and tap on “Method” and select “By Bundle Name”.
STEP 3: Now head back and tap on Bundle menu and select your carrier that you are locked to.
STEP 4: Now head over to SIM ID and select your SIM ID, if not sure just select the first one.
STEP 5: Now go to More Information and you will see ActivationState as Unactivated.
STEP 6: It’s time for you to plugin your iPhone 4 to your computer. Once you have plugged it in, you will see notice that your ActivationState has changed to WildCardActivated

I followed carefully those guide given. I even restored to 5.0.1 and install only SAM tweaks..

what is that mean?
You’ll get that by default when you jailbreak your iPhone. That’s why you need to de-activate first your iPhone.

Wildcard never showed up. I don’t know what carrier it’s locked to, I bought it off the internet -___-
find the original carrier of ur phone by the model no of iphone then in method select the country and carrier and select network and select the first SIM ID and follow the other steps that’s it but in order to work with SAM when u spoof the ICCID in the main SAM page must be blank and then u have to paste the IMSI u copied then disable and connect to itunes that’s it…………..
ok, my iPhone 4 is locked to at&t and running 4.11.08, i did this procedure and wildcard showed up when i chose the first sim id on the list, but i still have “No Service” up top. What gives? Are these all the steps? or should i go back to the previous procedure and complete it? or keep trying sim ids from the list?

I got this msg and It occurs when you Spoof your SIM to SAM and you choose a wrong SIM ID. It won’t work, disable SAM y repeat all steps but then change your SIM ID until iTunes can recognize your iPhone, if you have original SIM carrier you can check the SIM ID with SAM in More information 5-firsta digits

Unlocked my Iph4 with Airtel India SIm card , I was facing all the issues with this SAM thats possible , till i ended up here , trick is to choose the method by bundle name , and then in bundle choose the carrier your phone is currently locked on to (not the carrier for your new sim or the sim you wish to use in future) , now choose the first amongst the SIM ID if there are many SIM IDs for your carrier(that ur iphone is locked onto) then just goto moreinformation and just note down the iccid and imsi in sam details dont press the spoof real sim to sam button , now connect to Itunes , and the 1st time u will see the cant activiate error , close and open I tunes again , and be one HAPPY IPHONE OWNER

Hi Vivek , which is ur old carrier that your phone is locked onto ? choose the Method by bundle name , and then in bundle choose the carrier your phone is currently locked on to, then in SIM IDs just choose the first one , but all this while have your new sim in ur phone , Also remove any gevey sim ur using and just put your Airtel or vodafone sim in the iphone , and u shud have a jailbroken phone . I tried this with three different phones and it works

I thought i was doomed until i did this, So guys, Follow this easy step :
1 – Have iphone Unplugged from PC.
2 – Open SAM and Revert Lockdown 1st, then De-Activate your iphone.
3 – Select your Country / Carrier / 1st SIM ID
3 – Disable SAM
4 – Plug into pc and open iTunes
5 – Your now UNLOCKED
*** Make sure to Disable SAM in step 3, It cannot get any clearer than this ****

If you just goto setting->general you can see your carrier and network name , that ur phone was used previuosly with , may those entries go away after a jailbreak

You dont need Original Sim, You just need to know Original Carrier.
Works on Hacktivated iphone without Original SIM.

When you say “Select your Country / Carrier / 1st SIM ID” on step 3, you mean the country and the carrier that the iPhone is currently locked to, or the carrier you want to use the phone with?
Ive managed to unlock my Iphone but when making/receiving calls the tone remains mute. I cannot hear the other party and vice versa nor the ringing during a call.

Hi! i just tried to follow the instructions, but its not working for me. My problem is that my iphone is locked to vodafone spain but im currently living in uk, when i insert the uk sim card in the iphone just says no sim, i did all the process and nothing happens, also when i plugg the iphone to my laptop (uk sim) itunes says that there is not sim card either.
The uk sim card its working as im using it everyday with my other phone, Can someone help me please???

If you are still getting no signal or sim card not supported after following these instructions here is what you need to do (at least for me – my phone was locked to AT&T).
Stockify with SAM
Change method to by country and carrier
Select USA as country
Select Carrier->There are 2 AT&T carriers in the list – it was picking the one with multiple SIMIDs by default for me which wasnt working. I had to pick the 2nd one with only one SIMID manually.
Go to utilities->Attempt activate
Done

I cannot believe I finally got it to work, and I am not tech-savvy at all!!
I kept getting the error screen on itunes telling me my SIM card was not valid/supported, whatever. Very frustrating. I am locked to ATT in US and was trying to use my T-mobile USA SIM. I did this with my T-mobile SIM in my iphone 4, running IOS 5.1. I did as “Callum” posted above.
Do the de-stockify thing in SAM
Change method to country and carrier
USA as country and ATT (Cingulair) as carrier
For the SIM ID I went down the list one at a time. I tried the first one, went to utilities and clicked Attempt Activate and was given an error message. I went back, changed the SIM ID to the second one on the list and repeated the Attempt Activate. Again, an error message. I went back and changed to the 3rd SIM ID, went to Attempt Activate and BINGO!!!! The screen went blank except a little turning wheel in middle of the screen, and when it came back on I got a T-mobile signal!
Moral of the story, if you do not succeed my selecting the first SIM ID on the ATT list, keep trying on down the list till you find the right one. Again, do this with the SIM card you want to use in your iphone, but the carrier and country you enter in SAM are the carrier your phone is locked to.

Karast: I’m getting the same exact problem. My iphone 4s is from Canada and I’m currently in China. I have modem firmware 2.0.12 with OS version 5.1.1 (9B206). I used Absinthe 2.0.4 to jailbreak it. When it was jail breaking it said it ran into an error and just froze. I can’t remember what the error was but when I tried to jail break it again it said it was already jailbroken. Now I get 1 bar of service signal and can’t make any calls out. I feel I have followed everything to the Tee and still nothing. What could I have possibly missed?
