Use Ultrasnow Fixer To Unlock iPhone 4/3GS On iOS 5.1.1 (Guide)

As you are most probably aware Apple has released iOS 5.1.1 to the general public and like every firmware release you get lots of updates regarding the new firmware. Well you might already know that whenever a new firmware is released you should not upgrade in order to avoid losing your jailbreak status or your unlock status, but those who simply can not wait read ahead.

So you want to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 without losing your unlock status? Well an unknown hacker has managed to update the Ultrasnow fixer file for iOS 5.1.1. If you have accidentally upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 and are on an unlockable baseband you can follow the guide below to unlock iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS.

Unlock iPhone 4/3GS On iOS 5.1.1 Using Ultrasnow fixer

If you are not sure on how to follow the steps below, do not attempt this as iPhone Dev team will soon release the Ultrasnow for iOS 5.1.1. But those who can’t wait follow the guide below to unlock iPhone on iOS 5.1.1

As this is not a major update, only those basebands which are unlockable with Ultrasnow can be unlocked. Below are the supported basebands:

  • 01.59.00 (iPhone 4)
  • 04.26.08 (iPhone 3GS)
  • 05.11.07 (iPhone 3GS)
  • 05.12.01 (iPhone 3GS)
  • 05.13.04 (iPhone 3GS)
  • 06.15.00 (iPhone 3GS)

Note: This will not support baseband 4.11.08 or 4.12.01

Requirements 

Download Ultrasnow 1.2.5

Download MobileSubstrate

Download Ultrasnow fixer patch

i-FunBox For Windows

DiskAid For Mac

Guide To Unlock iPhone On iOS 5.1.1

STEP 1: If you have i-FunBox or DiskAid launch it.

STEP 2: Navigate to /private/var/root/Media.

STEP 3: Now create a folder called Cydia inside the “Media” folder.

STEP 4: Now inside the “Cydia” folder create another file called “AutoInstall” Folder.

STEP 5 Now inside the /private/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall copy Ultrasnow 1.2.5 file (download from the link above), MobileSubstrate  (download from the link above), Ultrasnow fixer patch  (download from the link above) to that directory.

STEP 6: Now Reboot iPhone. As this only a tethered jailbreak exists you will need to boot tethered.

That’s it you will have successfully unlocked your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.1.1.

  1. i also used resnow to jb 3gs 5.1.1 and also used ultra snow fixer 5.1.1 followed by ultrasnow through cydia, but no service issue, i heard that i have to change my bb (which is 0.5.16.05 currently) to enable to get it working, but at the cost of loosing gps or may be some other things, which i don’t want to loose, please share/help solution, how can i deal with no service issue?

  2. Ok i need to Remove SAM and restore my phone to the way it was before SAM. Someone told me to delete the Lockdown folder ANY IDEAS …Step to step guide would be great help just abt right now

    • uninstall ultrasn0w 1.2.7
      and install ultrasn0w 1.2.5 & ultrasn0w fixer for 5.1.1
      u will get the network

  3. well mine says activated vm comes up with rite vm number but no service so i know im soooooo clse i can taste it
