State Of The Unlock On iPhone 4 Baseband 4.11.08/4.12.01 On iOS 5.1.1

By -

It has been quite some time since we here at Maypalo posted about any thing about unlocking iPhone 4 on baseband 4.11.08/4.12.01. But as we have been asked many questions regarding the unlock so here is an update on the unlock scene regarding iPhone 4.

SAM Unlock History

Those of you who had a locked iPhone 4 or any other locked iPhone would definitely have heard about SAM unlock. If you haven’t then you must have been living under a rock or something as you missed a precious opportunity to unlock your iPhone. Well back to the story; SAM unlock which was developed by Loktar Sun spread like wildfire, unlocking every iPhone no matter what baseband or firmware they were on! Most of you lucky ones got their iPhone 4 unlocked on the infamous baseband 4.11.08 but some were left out.

Soon after the unlock was developed Applenberry’s Gevey SIM and R-SIM 4 both copied the method and sold the unlocking solution at a very high price (SAM unlock was free). SAM unlock lasted only a couple of days and then Apple dropped the bombshell. It blocked the loophole that unlocked the iPhones. Those lucky enough managed to unlock it for free and some other ordered Gevey SIM/R-SIM 4 without knowing they was a copy. Later Applenberry acknowledged that they copied the unlock, while Maypalo uncovered R-SIM 4 was a copy too. It left everyone dumbfounded.

Unlock iPhone 4 On iOS 5.1.1

I assume most of you who did not unlock iPhone 4 for free via the SAM unlock method have updated to iOS 5.1.1. So that means you now have the new baseband 4.12.01. Those of you who still are on iOS 5.0.1 with baseband 4.11.08 you are pretty much at the same position as those of 4.12.01.

Those of you who managed to unlock should have saved their unlock activation tickets which are essential if you want to keep your unlock. Those users who want to risk going to firmware iOS 5.1.1 and want to keep the unlock can do so by creating a custom firmware that way your baseband won’t be upgrade. We wrote a guide on creating a custom firmware. But there is a catch and that is, this process is VERY risky due to the fact iOS 5.1.1 can only be jailbroken tethered. So I advice you NOT to update your firmware until we get confirmation from the iPhone Dev Team.

We should now mention that currently there is NO solution for unlocking iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.01 or 4.12.01. on iOS 5.1.1. Those of you who are waiting

Rebel SIM Unlock iPhone 4

It is obvious isn’t it? While we had proof to show other methods that they were fake, Rebel SIM remained under the radar dodging every obstacle to be seen as the only solution that unlocks iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08 and 4.12.01. Well we hate it to break it to you but it seems that Rebel SIM is fake, in fact it might have even been copying of SAM unlock too!

iPhone 4 Baseband 4.11.08 Unlock In Future?

Now the question on your mind would be any hope of unlocking iPhone 4 in future? Well i won’t give you any false hope and say yes hackers/developers are working on it. Currently there is no solution for unlocking iPhone 4 on 5.1.1 or any iOS 5+ firmwares and as far as I know all those who were previously working on the unlock have either stopped working or their progress is very slow.

So there you go folks that’s the current situation of the unlock for iPhone 4. We will be bringing more news regarding the unlock and for those users who have unlocked, we will be bringing more on how to keep your unlock. So stay tuned!

Does that mean that the one on itechblogger (itechblogger.com/index.php/2012/apple-iphone-4-baseband-04-11-08-unlock-patched-redsn0w-0-9-10b4/) is also fake?

  2. Beholder

I want to update from 5.0.1 to 5.1 or 5.1.1 but i am afraid that i will lose My SAM unlock

  3. I don’t think there are many waiting for unlock… Either AT&T or SAM would have worked for 99%

  4. DopeShow

BEHOLDER I just wanted to inform you that I have unlocked my iPhone 4 with SAM and I have actually restored my iPhone with custom firmware 4 times and my iPhone continues to stay unlocked, I haven’t even needed to use my backed up avtivation ticket at all yet, so you people don’t be scared to restore your iPhone just as long as you use a custom firmware do that you don’t change your baseband then your safe, plus if you have your activation tickets backed up then you really don’t have to worry about losing the unlock, anyways I just wanted to tell you that BEHOLDER so you don’t have to be scared to restore when you need to

    • Brholder

Ok DOPESHOW thanks man, when You say a custom firmware You mean the ” no bb firmware” we create with redsnow right? And then You restore it on iTunes. Ok i have saved My unlock tickets And i also have saved them in COOKIE i think i am safe, when the untethred comes i will teu out. Thanks

    • Agree with you DopeShow…don’t be afraid people…if you have the lockdown tickets then remember a simple method: Remove(delete) the lockdown folder that comesup after 5.1.1 restore (with a custom IPSW)….replace the same with the LOCKDOWN folder (unzipped) in ifile or through ifunbox…..reboot (actually boot using Redsn0w)…you WILL see the signals popup!!! Dont worry….

    • do u restore via redsnow,,and do use pc or mac platform..pls let me now the brief process of custom firmware on iphone 4 5.0.1…Thnaks.

  5. Hi,
I have successfully unlocked 4.11.08 but it simply stopped working after 3 days. I do not know what happened. I am again with a locked phone for a month already. Any ideas what happened? I did not restore it or anything.

  6. Dope show is correct, jst incase u screwd up, there is a tutorial on youtube to downgrade ur phone to 5.0.1 using ifaith even it is nota signed by apple. I tried to update my phone and it works fine however i dongrade it due to tethered jailbreak. Its correct as long as u have your tickets there is nothing to worry about

    • Joe blow

Who really gives a shit about downgrading the firmware on the phone. What the hell does that have to do with unlocking the phone in the first place and that is the topic here. Downgrading to a lower iOS will not do a damn thing when it comes to being able to unlock your phone because downgrading the iOS does not affect the baseband in any way whatsoever, and it is the baseband that is preventing the phone from being unlocked and not the iOS.

  7. @lukas did u use SAM to unlock it? And save your activation tickets? If you do, just re download sam and paste ur tickets once if activated you can delete SAM but make sure that stockify is installed if you chose to delete sam

  8. I dont think that those corporate hackers will unlock 4.11.08 anymore, its like what happen now the are more focus on iphone 4s. And now iphone 5 is nearly approaching as usual they will work on a new one than to go back to ip4, just sell it or collect a petition and send it to apple. Tell those douchebags that you are consumers and they should treat you as a consumers not iphone slaves

  9. I don’t get it why Apple is trying so hard to block unlocking methods for their iPhones. If they want more and more buyers, they should quit it out. People who have been locked and who could see that there’s a little hope for another unlocking methods especially those stuck with the newest basebands are shifting to other phones like Ericsson or Nokia, Androids, etc. Apple is so annoying. They really should allow unlocking methods for christ’s sake!!! They should allow people to use their desired sim cards, and whatnot.

    • Let me explain it to you sweetie, remember nokia before they are the popular ones around year 2000 they always make new models of phones every quarter which makes people upset, can you imagine you bought an expensive nokia model and it will depreciate every 6mos because a newer model arrives and apple noticed that, its jst now that they releases new models like ipad 3 and iphone 5 when steve jobs passed, they want to capitalized the technology scene that’s why they introduce micro sim so rhat people can’t switch phones that easy, same thing they block the unlocks just because they want you apple slaves to buy and chnge your iphone to a newer model

      • Alright. Now I can see it clearly now. Thanks for your explanation. I just got a little mad because I updated to 5.0 without knowing about the preserving bb thing because I was a bit new to iPhone, and then got stuck on locked sim that I don’t like for around 5 months now. But thanks

    • babes just two things; buy factory unlock iPhones or do not use iphone thats the best way….

    • IPHONE4 IS OBSOLETE

ever wonder why there are cars that run on gas or diesel? it’s because manufacturers give consumers choices. plus Apple caters to a very specific segment and if you are not down with that then probably you are not their target market in the first place.

  10. The main reason why Apple is blocking the Unlock solutions is due to stolen iPhones. If they will allow an easy-go-lucky unlocking solutions then the snatchers will be happy. On the other hand, those iPhone owners who bought locked iPhones also suffer on it. The apple should have to be fair and isolate every case. They can block those stolen iPhones through IMEI(International Mobile Equipment Identity) and include them on there blacklist. And those other iPhones should have to be considered for unlocking because every owner deserved it.
I just hope apple still have the heart like there LOGO a “heart fruit”.

  11. is imei unlock real or a scam? If not a scam which website is affordable but genuine and can be trusted?

  12. Those of us who got our iPhones unlocked from AT&T, must worry about preserving a custome firmware or something, in order to not getting the device locked again with an update, or hence it is factory unlocked it will always be unlocked?

  13. There are guys in ebay who can unlock any iPhone 4 (not 8gb) if it is locked to AT&T. Doesn’t matter whether it is in contract or IMEI blacklisted or not. Only thing is it should be AT&T locked and should not be new generation ( I mean 8gb). I have unlocked one iphone 4 white 16gb which is in contract till June 2013. They charged me USD65 but I am happy. The phone was purchased from ebay and AT&T refused to unlock when I spoke to them.

This is only for information and I am not sure all ebay listings are genuine or not. But I don’t find a reason not to try as long as you are protected with paypal

    • @Ricks: Once the device is unlocked from AT&T, is it unlocked forever? No matter of the updates? I got it unlocked from AT&T and now I’m scared of any update via iTunes…

  14. My phone is not At&t locked :( … Won,t it work if i copy activation key from unlocked phone to locked phone with some modification.. I am not an expert….

  15. Please read this articel if your are stuck on IOS 5.1.1 lock after restoring even with a ticket….

    Regards

  16. Ok so i heard that even if an unlock for 4.11.08 comes your GPS wont work, is that true?? And does anyone have a direct email for AT&T I’m going to try my luck because this unlock i’m sure will never come

  17. Yes U can, i have updated my iphone 4 from firmware 5.0.1 baseband 04.10.01 To firmware 5.1.1 baseband 04.12.01 and work great Just update your Iphone activate with original sim card if you have , its better for you because Face time don’t work if you Hacktivate with redsnow or SAM , than Jailbreak your iphone 4 activated with Absinth 2.0 , Use ifunbox got to /var/root/library/ delete folder named Lockdown , and copy your Lockdown folder of your sim activation ticket , power off your iphone , insert your sim card that you have unlocked with sam , and power on your iphone , thats it

    • Vladimir

Hi, Dikushi… How can I copy my Lockdown folder of my SIM Activation ticket? I’m trying to unlock my Iphone4 unsuccessfully since I updated it. Could you help me, plz??? Tks…

  18. Vladimir

Hi, guys… Is there chance to use a ticket activation from another Iphone? I mean, to backup a ticket from Iphone “1″ and use the same file to try to unlock on Iphone “2″? Could someone help me, please??? Tks…

  19. Very poorly written article that does not have any New informatiOn. Rather, it is a regurgitation of known facts for those not “living under a rock”.

  20. I am lucky to have my AT&T iphone 4 factory unlocked.
Yes, I think I won’t buy Iphone again unless it’s factory unlocked.
    More difficult to unlock now.

  21. AT&T Factory Unlock… Any iPhone..

I can permanently factory unlock any AT&T iPhone, including in contract iPhones. Any iOS. Any Baseband. Any Firmware. Any model. You can upgrade to the latest baseband and you won’t loose your unlock. It’s permanent. No need to jailbreak.  It takes me 2-4 days to get the iPhone unlocked. If your iPhone is locked to AT&T then I could help you get it unlocked. Interested persons may contact me at agag207@me.com use the words iPhone – Unlock in the subject line.
The only requirement is that it must be AT&T iPhone & wasn’t reported lost or stolen.

    • Anyone ever used this guy? What if it is just a rip off. Here the blog says the IP4 5.1.1 can’t be unlocked but this guy and several others claim they can. Any experances?

      • Refrain from falling into the hands of greedy idiots. As of now, there are no unlocks available for 4.12/5.1.1 or 4.11. Be patient, someone reliable will come with an unlock.

  22. Please share here. You posted that information here for free so share it to us pls. Thank you. If you need donations/credits we can give it to you.
