Unlockers Preserve Baseband Before Updating To iOS 5.1.1 To Keep Unlock (Warning)

By -

Absinthe version 2.0 is about to be released soon and those who rely on carrier unlock, well folks, it is time to preserve baseband before updating to the new firmware 5.1.1.

iPhone skull warning

Pod2g has warned those users who are going to update to iOS 5.1.1 to get the untether jailbreak that they should preserve their baseband. It is a normal security procedure to preserve baseband and upgrade to the new version (only for those who have to unlock their iPhone).

Via Pod2g:

Huge warning as usual for unlockers that want to preserve their baseband to keep their unlock.

We have already written a guide on preserving baseband by creating a custom firmware. Simply click on the link below for the full guide.

Should I Update To iOS 5.1.1?

Those users should upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 who have a factory unlocked iPhone or those who do not rely on carrier unlock for their iPhone to work. But as we have unlock solution for iOS 5.1.1 via Ultrasnow fixer you can update but make sure you one of the basebands listed below.

  • 01.59.00
  • 04.26.08
  • 05.11.07
  • 05.12.01
  • 05.13.04
  • 06.15.00

Those users who unlocked their iPhone via SAM unlock should refrain from updated to iOS 5.1.1 even though you can still unlock iPhone if you have saved activation tickets; but according to some Maypalo readers updating results in loss of unlock, so better safe then sorry.

Once we have confirmation from the iPhone dev team whether it is safe or not, we will let you know. So stay tuned.

Because AT&T are checking also for the current status of your iPhone if it is currently activated, SIM Locked, and to where your iPhone carrier currently activated.

Maybe they’ve just found out it was currently activated on a different carrier where supposed to be locked to AT&T SIM Module.

The best way is to check your iPhone current status in http://www.imei.info
you can look if your iPhone is already unlocked.
“SIM Locked: NO” – You should see this status info, if your iPhone got unlocked.

If you see that status info, restore your iPhone and you will receive a Greetings that your iPhone has been unlocked.
