The rumours regarding the iPad mini, the smaller version of iPad have started gearing up. We have now got reports regarding the dimensions of the new iPad mini.
According to the popular Japanese blog Macotakara, we have an idea on how the iPad mini will now look like. The thickness of the iPad mini will be around the same as an iPod touch 4 that is 7.2mm thick, much smaller than its competitors Nexus 7 (10.45mm) and Amazon’s Kindle Fire (11.43mm). The screen size will be 7.85 inches much smaller than the current iPad with 9.7 inches.
The report goes on to further mention that iPad mini will have 3G and the mass production will start from September, just in time for the holiday season. iPad mini will be produced in Apple’s Brazil factory.
Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg both predict a release date for the iPad mini this coming October, which had previously been associated with the release of the iPhone 5.
It seems Apple has been pressurised in to making a smaller version of the iPad, the iPad mini, due to the growing competition in the untapped market which Apple has yet to capitalize on.
The first to enter the the “smaller tablet” market was Amazon’s Kindle Fire which came at a price of $199 and following the kindle was Google’s Nexus 7 with the same price but with higher specs.
We are yet to find out what Apple will bring with the iPad mini. More on this coming soon.
