When it was rumoured that Apple would introduce 3D maps in the up coming iOS 6, Google quickly announced an event which introduced Google’s own 3D maps which as you would seen by now are quite stunning. Those of you looking to check out the awesome 3D maps for iPhone and iPad in iOS 6 later this year, well folks you can do so that now by either being an Apple developer and downloading an iOS 6 beta but those of you who are not can do so by simply downloading Google Earth version 7.0 which brings 3D maps and to iPhone 4S, iPad 2/3.

So what’s new in this version 7.0? Here are the release notes:

• Tour guide: Explore places you never thought to search for with new tours of your favorite cities, historic landmarks and natural wonders.
• 3D imagery: Take flight above entire cities in 3D. Get started with Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Geneva or Rome and look for new additions in the coming weeks. Available for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 or later.
