Well this came as a shock. The newly released beta version of iOS 6 has revealed that iOS will no longer support YouTube.app, yes folks it’s officially gone and there is no coming back and Apple has confirmed it.
At first, when most of us who downloaded the beta 4 version of iOS 6, it came as a surprise when we did not see the YouTube app which has been a default app since the original iPhone. Most users/developers simply brushed it off saying it might have been a bug, well folks sorry to disappoint you, it has been confirmed by Apple that YouTube will no longer be a native iOS app.
Apple’s statement:
Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.
There you go folks, that is the reason why Apple has not included the YouTube app as a default one simply due to their license which has ended. Of course this is an “official” statement of Apple so we won’t really get anything here, but there could be more sinister reasons.
Of course we are going to get a YouTube app from Google soon as mentioned by Apple but not seeing it as a default one is going to leave some heavy YouTube users feeling a bit let down, I’m sure for one as I used it regularly.
Well what do you think about all this? Did Apple simply not include it because of license issues or was there something else? Let us know in the comment section below.
