New Report Seems To Confirm iPhone 5 With 4G LTE

By -

We have been bombarded with leaks upon leaks of rumours regarding the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5. Well all these leaks and rumours these days seem to focus mainly on large screen size, new unibody design and other hardware related features but the one feature that we are quite sure iPhone 5 is going to have and that is 4G LTE. Well a new report today from KoreaTimes mention something we all have been looking for and that is iPhone 5 with 4G LTE.

For those of you who are unaware of what 4G LTE is, well basically in layman’s word its the fastest internet speed we can currently achieve with the technology of today for consumer use. 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) can boost speeds up to 72Mbps (depends on the location), which is blazing fast.

The new iPad 3 was the first Apple product to feature 4G LTE and we are now expecting iPhone 5 will have this feature too (almost confirmed).

Well today KoreaTimes report that Korean telecom companies are currently in talks with Apple to support their 4G networks. SK Telekom and KT are reported to be making the rounds in Cupertino to convince Apple to make the iPhone 5 compatible with their 4G LTE networks.

When it comes to 3G most carriers around the world support 2.1-gigahertz frequency but for carriers around the world have different 4G network frequencies. No wonder Australia banned Apple from using the word “4G LTE” in their ads as the frequencies were not supported.

Well SK telecom companies want Apple to include the 800-megahertz frequency as it is their main 4G network, while on the other hand Verizon of the United States uses 700-megahertz, while AT&T has both 700-megahertz and 2.1-gigahertz networks.

If Apple does include the 4G networks of Korea (which will cost Apple as it has to include new modems that support those networks), there will be an additional 8.4 million who will be able to use iPhone 5′s 4G LTE networks.

Well what this confirms is that the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5 is going to have 4G LTE for sure.
