This news was confirmed when chpwn replied to someone on Twitter about the arrival cydia onto his iPhone 5, by jailbreaking the phone.

If you are still doubtful then let me clear this that though this picture of cydia on homescreen is a product of some editing but the one who has tweeted this news is a fully reliable man. Chpwn (Grant Paul) is someone who is thought have the abilities to bring such amazing stuff to the surface. Thus we can trust him that yes iPhone 5 can also be jailbroken.
