But there is a way to jailbreak iOS 6 for your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This guide basically uses the redsnow version which was initially intended for developers, that is redsnow 0.9.13dev 4. So let’s take a look on how to jailbreak iOS 6.

  • Before we begin let me remind you that this jailbreak guide for iOS 6 is a tethered one, which means every time you reboot your device, you will need to do a “Just boot” via redsnow.
  • If you rely on unlocking your iPhone then I would suggest you not to update to iOS 6 unless you have SAM activation tickets.
  • Not all jailbreak tweaks are compatible with iOS 6

  1. I get to the ssh and to paste the item in for cydia and nothing happen. i press enter and nothing happens even if i leave it. i got the pineapple on rebot from jailbreaking it but that’s it. cant instill cydia

    • Once you log into your iPhone with SSH one of the drop down menu at the top has the option “Open Terminal” that will open a terminal where you paste that command and it will install cydia properly. No pinapple should show up, your iphone should just respring and cydia will be there. I did this and I have cydia so I know it works on my iPhone 4.

    • First save your activation ticket with redsnow, it should be saved as a zip file called lockdown, this way its easier to restore SAM after upgrading to iOS 6. Once activation ticket is saved upgrade to iOS6 and follow the instructions above. Just upgraded my iPhone 4 on 5.1.1 with baseband 4.12.01 to iOS 6 and it works great except not all the cydia apps will work with iOS 6 as they have not been updated yet so think about that before considering to install iOS 6.

    • Yes it does just make sure you save your activation ticket, best to save it with redsnow so you can restore SAM and jailbreak at the same time.

  2. Hey, awesome guide! 😀 Even I managed to get through this with no problems! Any chance of us unfortunate souls on BB 04.12.02 seeing an unlock solution anytime soon? :/

Folks – every thing worked like a dream. BUT I AM STUCK.

    Steps again:

    1. Downloaded latest Redsnow (link above)
    2. Saved my Activation tickets again on RedSnow using Redsnow–>Extras–>EvenMore–>backup — it saves in your redsnow folder
    3. I updated to iOS 6 – this step of how to is not very clearly mentioned above – you can use iTunes or OTA to do the same. Just be careful of the location where you save the file
    4. Then follow-all instructions as above – and use the file which is used by iTunes so location of 3 is important — follow the steps 3 to step 10. While using Jailbreak option use use SSH and Activation Tickets option (if you are using SAM activation tickets to unlock)

So now phone is running on 6.0 and is active on my local SIM and is not locked.

FAILING IN THE FIRST STEP OF CONNECTING – I GUESS connecting means using Coda (as I am using MAC) and trying to connect to IP address of of my WIFI as shown in the WIFI Window. This is not happening. Can any one help with some details of HOW THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED.

This is about Installing Cydia on IOS 6 – when I complete Step 1 and Step 2 – it says cannot connect to remote location – can any one PLEASE HELP?????

  4. The issue was stupidlty of providing a wrong IP address. Now everything has being done perfectly. And works fine. Instructions are optimal.

  5. People you better wait for An official jailbreak, expecially those who relly on baseband unlock without snowbreeze you will upgrade your baseband and never unlock your iPhone unless you have SAM tickets.
IOS 6 is not Going anywhere so just wait
