Whenever we think of buying a new smart phone, we always check out its appealing features such as its display size, slimness, processor, camera, software etc. But when a company thinks of introducing a new product in the market than it goes beyond our expectations and brings something extraordinary to the users. And when the company is Apple and the smart phone is iPhone 5 then it is really out of the world. Thus one such quality of iPhone 5 that we got to know now is that, it is one of the most environment friendly smartphone in the market. If you are wondering how then here comes the details.

This study was conducted Healthystuff.org in collaboration with iFixIt, in which they tested the chemicals that has been used in different smartphones. The chemicals tested were the hazardous ones such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ether. And finally a conclusion was drawn out.

The lower the number means lesser harmful chemicals were used in the production of the phone. iPhone 5 took the 5th position in this research, with a 2.80 score. While the bewildering news is that iPhone 4S got the 2nd position, with a score of 2.69. This means that as iOS 5 was more appreciated by people then iOS 6, similarly iPhone 4S is more environment friendly then this new one. But if we see the position of the original iPhone scored then we see that it scored 5.00 – the very worst and the highest score overall.

A trend that we see in this study is that the older phones were having more harmful chemicals the new phones that means that technology not only reduced the  size of the phone but also the toxin substances in its production.
