Experiencing A Purple Lens Problem On iPhone 5? Apple Officially Says Your Holding It Wrong

By -

Did you recently buy an iPhone 5 and having a bit of problem in the pictures taken? I am talking about the purple flare that you might be seeing on the pictures taken with an iPhone 5. If yes, then Apple has officially posted a solution for you. Do you want to know what the solution to the “purple lens flare” problem is? The answer is you are holding it wrong!

Yes folks, Apple today has officially given out an “apparent solution” to the purple spot/haze which appears in some pictures taken with the iPhone 5. Apple says you have to hold it properly! Yup, that is the solution to the purplish haze problem.

Via Apple support:

A purplish or other colored flare, haze, or spot is imaged from out-of-scene bright light sources during still image or video capture.

Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.

In a more understandable “language” Apple is actually telling you to hold the iPhone 5 “properly” or simply to take a picture from a different angle. Now I’am finding it a bit hard to see the “actual solution” in this.

Although we shouldn’t be too harsh on iPhone 5 as other smartphones do experience a similar problem to what is being reported for the iPhone 5, but to get an official response from Apple saying you are holding it wrong is quite un-Appleish.
