Apple Inc., the world’s most valuable company which is expected to cross a market capitalization of a trillion dollars next year is no ordinary company. When I say no ordinary, I literally mean it. According to a few anthropologist, Apple is simply no longer just a company, it has become a religion!
Apple Is A Religion
It was known for quite sometime that people had a special place for Apple in their hearts, people were simply wowed by their products even if it was merely a small upgrade. Each Apple product is taken by its fans as a symbol of pride, and shown around for others to see.
Each Apple event is held in a special place and is hardly live streamed for people to see, only a “few selected” are chosen to witness the arrival of a new product. Each Apple event which takes place in a specific place is specially decorated to suite the occasion, mostly with huge Apple logos.
Whenever each Apple product is to be launched for the first time, people wait outside the stores for many days and once the doors are opened there are screams of joys and people chanting. You see Apple employees urging and raising their hands and motivating people, creating something of an evangelical frenzy.
Do you find this to be similar to another thing? Think.
Religion. That’s right, Religion comes very close to what Apple has become. This is not me saying that, it is famous anthropologists around the world who are mentioning this.
Kirsten Bell, an anthropologist at the University of British Columbia in Canada, was recently asked by the TechNewsDaily to take some time and study the launch videos of Apple products. She even attended the latest Apple product launch that was the iPad mini.
She came to the conclusion which many of her predecessors have “confirmed” that Apple product launches are no ordinary. They are indeed held like a religious event!!
“A stranger observing one of the launches could probably be forgiven for thinking they had stumbled into a religious revival meeting,” Kirsten Bell.
This should come as no surprise as she went further on mentioning that:
During keynote speeches, an Apple leader “addresses the audience to reawaken and renew their faith in the core message and tenets of the brand/religion.”
Last year BBC conducted a report on Apple as a religion. What it found was something most of us would not have expected.
A team of neuroscientists ran a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test on an Apple fanatic and the results were astounding. The scientists discovered that images of the technology company’s gadgets lit up the same parts of the brain as images of a deity do for religious people!
In 2009 a documentary called “Macheads” showed Apple fans going to extreme lengths such as building home-shrines to outdated Mac models and worshiping them!
Many people travel thousands of miles just to see a product launch or opening of a new store! Surely no other company has these kinds of “extreme people”.
What this recent study by the anthropologist does is just prove what we have been hearing all this time and that is, Apple is a religion.
Although to some extent this might be true but lets not all forget what’s the major difference between a religion and a company. Religion is much more of a “faith and believe”, while Apple on the other hand, just like any other company simply wants to keep its investors happy by making them money.

Well, maybe compared to a religion because a religion multiplied by recruiting member ang apple is a company thats growing each day popularity of their products. Congratulation apple.
Religion is what people follow and not to my surprise people pray for Apples. Someone also said these days phones are smart and people are stupid. Well said, people go gaga over apple products as if they came from heaven. Steve Jobs in this regard is a Marketing God and in some way or other everyone of us follow him.
