Less then 24 hours after the release of the iPad mini. Famous iOS hacker, musclenerd has jailbroken iPad mini running iOS 6/6.0.1. Check out all the details regarding the iPad Mini jailbreak below.

iPad Mini Jailbreak iOS 6

iPhone Dev leader, musclenerd just tweeted mentioning that he has jailbroken iPad Mini on iOS 6. Although currently it is not clear whether the jailbreak is iOS 6 or iOS 6.0.1. But considering the higher firmware has closed many exploits, we will go with iPad mini being jailbroken on iOS 6.

What muscle nerd mentions is that this might not be a “normal” jailbreak, thus using the word “failbreak”. Unlike other jailbreaks for Apple devices, this one requires a developer account.

@Planetbeing, another famous iOS hacker mentions that he recently made some changes to the “failbreak” kernel, which he used to create an almost full tethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5.

Upgraded the #failbreak with a kernel exploit so tweaks actually work on iPhone 5. Almost a full tethered JB, though need dev account.

So does this mean we are getting a jailbreak for the iPhone 5 or the iPad mini? Well not exactly.

Although these hackers have the exploits required for creating a jailbreak but it’s not perfect. These exploits can currently be used for creating a tethered jailbreak but not an untethered one, which basically is the kind of jailbreak you will need.
