If you had been waiting for some good news, well we finally have something good to report. Significant progress has been made on an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5.

@Planetbeing, a legendary iOS hacker has got some interesting news for us. Today via a tweet he posted a picture (above) of a jailbroken iPhone 5 running the app he helped create, IntelliscreenX.

We had reports previously that an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5, and the whole iOS 6+ firmware looked quite grim, as there had been no significant process on an untether jailbreak.

Well to put those rumors to rest, @planetbeing who’s first name is David mentioned that they are at a stage where they are not looking for bugs but more of a “finding the missing pieces”.

Although there has been a significant process on an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5, he still mentions that a release date cannot be confirmed but he would love to release it as soon as possible.

Can’t say too much, but we’re still missing critical pieces so it’s not releasable right now. Believe me, we’d love to release it asap.

Although we do not have any release date confirmed for an untethered jailbreak the good news is that; once the jailbreak has been completed, it will be available for all iOS devices, not just the iPhone 5.
