We all know that many Apple users are desperately waiting for the release of a jailbreak of firmware version of iOS 6./6.1, although we don’t have that yet but we do have a jailbreak for iOS 6.1 beta 5 using redsnow.
For your ease here we present you the step-by-step method of jailbreaking iOS 6.1 beta 5. Follow these few simple steps to take your device to a new improved version.
This is intended only for developers.
This is a tethered jailbreak only.
This jailbreak is only compatible for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G.
Step 1: Firstly, download iOS 6.1 beta 5 from Apple’s developer portal.
Step 2: Now either for your iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS, or the iPod touch 4th generation, download iOS 6.0 from this link.
Step 3: After this you have to download RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 from here.
Step 4: Connect your iDevice with computer and then put it into the DFU mode. In order to put your device in DFU you have to hold the Power button for 3 seconds, then hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds. Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button.
Step 5: Run RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 and make sure that it detects your iDevice in DFU mode.
Step 6: Click Extras > Select IPSW > and select the iOS 6.0 IPSW that we have already mentioned in step 2. Also make this sure that that RedSn0w has successfully identified the iOS 6.0 firmware. If this doesn’t happen then this means you have the wrong version of RedSn0w, or the wrong firmware. Click OK.
Step 7: Now click back and then click the option of jailbreak. And after finishing all loading, verify that Install Cydia is checked, and click Next. The jailbreaking process will start, while your device will still be in DFU mode.
Step 8: Now your device will come back to Lock screen, place it back into DFU mode again.
Step 9: Next you will receive a Tethered Jailbreak notification, click OK to proceed and again click Select IPSW.
Step 10: Once again select the iOS 6.0 firmware for your device. As it successfully identifies the firmware, click Just boot.
Step 11: While booting your iPhone, iPod touch should show the Pwned Apple logo. If it does, it means you have followed the steps correctly.
Step 12: That’s it. You will now have successfully jailbroken iOS 6.1 beta 5.
In the end we remind you once again that it is a tethered jailbreak which is currently available for the developers only. We hope that Maypalo helped you through this guide and you are able to successfully jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 5.
