Well we are on a streak of good news today. Apple only an hour or so ago released iOS 6.1 to the general public, which means we are going to get the jailbreak for it very soon. So how “soon” is that? The answer might be Sunday.

iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Release Sunday

iOS 6.1 has finally been released to the general public, so now there looms one very important questions, when are we finally going to get the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1? The answer has been given by none other than the top hacker in the jailbreaking community right now, Musclenerd. But before we get to the release date, let’s take a look at whether iOS 6.1 has been jailbroken or not.

@Planetbeing, a great hacker who is currently working on iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak tweeted, letting us know that iOS 6.1 (final version) has been confirmed to be compatible with the jailbreak tool that is currently being thoroughly tested.

In a series of tweets he mentioned:

iOS 6.1 appears to have been released! We are reviewing the publicly available version now.

In terms of code, we have two proof of concepts that we need to merge and polish, so we will not be ready to release until that and testing.

So we finally know that iOS 6.1 can be jailbroken (untethered), therefore it is safe to download it.

Now back to the question. When are we going to get iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak? Well musclenerd teased us with an answer: Sunday.

If you have been following jailbreak-related news for quite a time then you would know that iPhone Dev team or the Chronic Dev team mostly release their jailbreak tools; Redsnow and Greenposion respectively on Sunday. Evad3rs might do the same. That is why Sunday is called Funday.

Although we have got a hint that Evad3rs might release the jailbreak on Sunday but there is a high chance that they might release it before that. Well whatever the case might be, we are happy that we will finally get the untethered jailbreak within this week!
