If you thought Apple was the only major tech company out there developing a smart watch, well you are wrong. Samsung is currently developing a smart watch of its own called the Samsung Galaxy Altius which will be a direct competitor to Apple’s iWatch. Check out the details regarding Samsung Galaxy Altius below.
Samsung Galaxy Altius
Agree or not, pretty soon we are going to have gadgets that will make James Bond cry for technology. Wearable computers are going to be common in the coming years, or if not, by the end of this year. Each major tech company has started building their own versions of wearable computers such as Google Glass from Google and iWatch from Apple. Now we have another tech company to add to the list – Samsung.
Samsung is currently developing a smart watch called the Samsung Galaxy Altius according to leaked images posted online on a Korean messaging board. The leaked images of Samsung Galaxy Altius above and below show that this smart watch from Samsung will feature Android and will constantly be connected to a cellular network, judging from the SKT bar on the top left hand corner.
Samsung’s smart watch is expected to be able to read messages (judging from the number “2” in the mail icon) and might feature Windows. Something Samsung might try considering most of its major products run on Android.
So how come we are sure that these images in fact belong to a watch, not something created for a smart phone? Well the answer lies in the resolution of these images. These images are 500 x 500, which can currently only be used on a very small device, a device such as a smart watch.
The leaked images of the Samsung smart watch show the name of “Galaxy Altius” which was first rumored to be the code name of Samsung Galaxy S4, but currently can not be confirmed. It might seem that this smart watch from Samsung might be “paired” with the Galaxy S4 once it is released. But that’s just a guess.
So now we know that Samsung will try to enter the market with its own smart watch. It seems the competition for the smart watch has already started between Apple and Samsung even before their products are released!
Well we are bound to get some more information regarding the Samsung Galaxy Altius smart watch in the future. So stay tuned.
