Well we didn’t expect Apple to adopt this strategy. According to Wall Street Journal Apple is currently testing iPhones with screen sizes ranging from 4.8 inch to 6 inches. Large Screen iPhone
When Steve Jobs was alive, he considered iPhones with large screen useless. He called the 3.5 inch screen “perfect for everyday use”, the 3.5 inch display, which was on every iPhone until iPhone 5, allowed anyone to easily touch any part of the phone using one hand.
“It just works”, Steve Jobs was heard to be saying many times. But it all changed with the iPhone 5.
When Apple launched the iPhone 5, it was the first time Apple had released an iPhone with a different screen size. Apple unveiled a 4 inch iPhone, that received a mixed reaction from the crowd.
It seems in the future it is going to come up with an even larger screens – a 4.8″ – 6″ screen.
The acclaimed Wall Street Journal is now reporting that Apple is currently testing out screen sizes ranging from 4.8″ to 6″ display. This would be the first time Apple is working on such displays.
So why has Apple suddenly changed its mind about screen sizes? The answer is in the form of a company called Samsung.
Samsung has been eating Apple’s pie in the recent years. With screen sizes ranging from below 3″ to phablets with screen sizes exceeding 5″ – Samsung has been covering it all.
Samsung now has a huge margin over Apple in terms of number of mobile devices sold. Samsung has specially exploited the south-east Asian market which holds almost half of the world’s population including China.
Apple, it seems is trying to win over this region with ranging screen sizes for an iPhone.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C this 10 September alongside iOS 7 – Apple’s latest operating system. But According to WSJ Apple will not release an iPhone with a different screen size this 10 September 2013.
