Windows Phone Beats iPhone In Italy! (Report)

This is going to surprise many people. According to a recently published report, Windows phone has overtaken the iPhone in Italy, and is now gaining major traction in European markets. The report from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech shows that Microsoft’s Windows phone has beaten the iPhone in Italy. Check out the details below.

The report published by Kantar shows data for the three months ending September 2013. Not only has Microsoft’s Windows-powered smartphone overtaken the iPhone in Italy, five other major European countries; UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, are reporting that Windows phone has gained quite a lot of new users. Not only are Windows phone gaining market share in Europe but the same is happening in Latin America.

The major driving force behind Windows phone growth is Nokia - which is currently owned by Microsoft.

The data compiled showed that Nokia is almost the major sole contributor to increasing Windows market share in the European markets. Something which shouldn’t surprise anyone.

For those iPhone lovers, you might not want to read ahead.

The data shows that Android is the king in every European country in terms of market share. Android has a market share of 77.9%, 58.4%, 68.2%, 71.6% and 90% in Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain respectively.

market share 2013The data is especially shocking for those who thought Windows phones weren’t taking off. Although they had a slow start, but now, it seems they are on the rise thanks to Nokia.

We should mention that market share is not the only factor when considering if a company is doing good or bad, Apple in the past has mentioned that they do not really care much about the market share.
