We had a good update to a tool you might have heard about before. TinyUmbrella, the tool that allows you to save SHSH blobs for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch receive a big update today. Starting today, you can save those precious SHSH blobs for iOS 8.1.2.
Those of you who do not know what this “TinyUmbrella” tool does; well, let me give you a brief description of it. TinyUmbrella allows you to save SHSH blobs for your iOS device, what these blobs do is give you the ability to restore to a specific firmware even if Apple is not signing that firmware. Which as you can imagine means downloading any firmware of your choice.
So what’s the big deal?
Well you see, if you have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and face a problem, you have to restore it, which means going to the latest version of iOS and losing your jailbreak. If the jailbreak exists for that version, all is good but most of the time the jailbreak would not be available for that version, therefore you would need to downgrade to a version which is compatible with a jailbreak. This is where the blobs come in.
By fetching the blobs from your iOS device via TinyUmbrella, you are keeping a mini backup of that firmware. Giving you the option of going to a version which is jailbreak compatible.
The current version of TinyUmbrella is in beta and is being constantly updated. But today the update was a major one as now it will give you the option of saving SHSH blobs for iOS 8.1.2 which can be jailbroken.
So folks, if you are on iOS 8.1.2 I highly suggest you download TinyUmbrella, and save your SHSH blobs.
