We are back in the rumour mill, this time for the iPad 3. According to a new report from Digitimes Apple will launch the next generation iPad, iPad 3 in the next 3-4 months.
This report follows previous reports which indicated that Apple will release iPad 3 in early 2012. Now according to this report supply chain has started delivering component parts of iPad 3 to OEMs and reducing parts for iPad 2. Apple normally does this whenever it is about to launch a new product in the market. This time this new product is the iPad 3.
OEM production of iPad 2 will remain high at 14-15 million units in the fourth quarter of 2011 but decline to 4-5 million units in the first quarter of 2012, paving the way for the launch of the new iPads, the sources noted.
This release date for iPad 3 which is March-April does sound quite convincing, in fact we strongly agree that March to April will be the release date for iPad 3.
The next generation iPad 3 from Apple is expected to support a retina display, which was previously expected for the iPad 2. This time it does seem that Apple will in fact go for the retina display as some reports suggest that Samsung is looking for retina displays for its own tablets.
