Many people who have updated to iOS 5 are currently waiting for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 from the jailbreaking community. The Chronic dev team have now updated us on when an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 will be released.
iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak
If you had been following the jailbreaking scene you would have heard that Chronic dev team in JailbreakCon (Formerly known as MyGreatFest ) mentioned that they have discovered five different exploits that can be used for creating an untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 5 but sadly Apple has fixed those exploits.
I was excited to announce that the Chronic Dev team had already discovered 5 different exploits for use in our upcoming jailbreak. Unfortunately, that announcement was a bit premature, because in the subsequent weeks, Apple found & patched a (critical) few of those exploits, between the beta versions we used for testing and the final release of iOS5 on October 12.
The Chronic dev team was going to release an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 as soon as it had hit the market but now unfortunately it seems its going to take a long time.
There is still hope.
Chronic dev team also mentioned something completely new. You can help in the process of creating a jailbreaking tool all by simply downloading a file. That file will send “crash reports” directly to greenposion’s servers which will be analysed and processed for releasing an untethered jailbreak.
