A lot of us had been expecting WhatsApp to release their video calling feature for quite sometime. Even the parent company of WhatsApp, Facebook, had been teasing the video calling feature for over a year now. Well, it seems the video calling feature is ready to be rolled out soon, in fact it might be released within weeks!
Today we have received leaked images of the video calling feature of WhatsApp thanks to a German blog Macerkopf.de. As you can see from the image below, the video calling will be in full-screen and your own video will be shown in a small box anywhere you like. This is very similar to almost all video calling features we have on various apps such as Skype, Facebook Messenger, Viber, etc.
Besides the video calling feature, WhatsApp is also going to get tabbed chats, so it becomes easier to switch between chats. None of these are new features: the tabbed chats, video calling are already available in multiple apps, so these aren’t any changes that might vow in new customers, but for the people who already use WhatsApp, these are definitely going to be welcoming features.
According to the blog, the version this WhatsApp is running is 2.12.16.2 and the current version is 2.12.12. From this we can estimate that the next update WhatsApp receives will have the video calling and the tabbed chats.
